If one thing is certain about the Duchess of Sussex, it’s that she never fails to deliver a memorable red-carpet ensemble. Last night was no different, with Meghan looking every part the duchess while making an appearance at the Paley Honors Fall Gala in Los Angeles.
The royal attended the event in support of her friend, the American actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry, for whom the event was held in honour of. She arrived on the red carpet wearing a strapless black Oscar de la Renta dress, which featured subtle ruching along the sweetheart neckline, with a high front-slit and elegant train that pooled behind her as she walked. The gown’s split skirt revealed a pair of subtle black heeled sandals from Celine, while Meghan decided to forgo a bag for the event.
The duchess paired the classic black gown with delicate jewellery from Lorraine Schwartz and Engender, accessorising with a diamond collar necklace and a mix of diamond and gold rings. She also wore one of her favourite pieces, a single gold Cartier Love bracelet, which is often seen adorning her wrist.
The look was a collaboration between the duchess and her stylist Jamie Mizrahi. Mizrahi, who’s roster of A-List clients includes Jennifer Lawrence and Adele, has a strong portfolio of dressing stars in modest yet modern pieces, making it a perfect pairing for Meghan who often opts for classic, feminine designs. The duchess has previously worn Oscar de la Renta while touring with Prince Harry, with Carolina Herrera proving to be another of her favourite red-carpet designers.
For last night’s event, Markle looked luminous with a fresh-face that highlighted her glowing skin, adding a touch of blusher and a pink glossy lip for a minimal approach to her make-up. Her beauty added an undone element to her overall look, contrasting the sophisticated gown by wearing her hair in a loose bun with face-framing tendrils falling either side.
