The Best Dressed Stars at the Golden Globes

Must read

It’s clear Hollywood stylists worked through the holiday season, securing an abundance of high style in time for Jan. 5, from haute-couture gowns to bespoke suits and veritable piles of diamonds and status watches, all to ensure stars achieved maximum glamour at the 2025 Golden Globes.

Indeed, “glamour” was the word of the night, especially among actresses who embraced an old-Hollywood vibe, in looks that distinctly channeled 1950s or ’60s style, evoking the likes of Grace Kelly in High Society, Audrey Hepburn in Charade or Faye Dunaway in The Thomas Crown Affair. From hair and makeup to jewelry, the addition of evening gloves and exquisite satin gowns — some indeed taking their cues from archival designs — the women’s style at this year’s Globes felt equal parts captivating and sophisticated. When Wicked director Jon M. Chu accepted his award for cinematic and box office achievement, he mentioned the work of everyone in the audience as a “radical act of optimism.” The same could be said of the majority of style choices — and yes, that is a compliment.

On the men’s side, that optimism was never more apparent than in the sky blue hue of Andrew Scott’s Vivienne Westwood suit, a shade also seen in the beaded jacket worn by Wicked‘s Jeff Goldblum. Many Hollywood actors chose black tuxedos this year — Hiroyuki Sanada, a best actor winner for Shōgun — noted that his black Ralph Lauren suit required three fittings to ensure perfect tailoring, but for many guys it was the accessories that elevated their choices.

All of which is to say: This list of 12 best dressed Globes attendees could easily have been expanded to 18 or 24 actors and actresses who looked simply fantastic. With that in mind, enjoy this highly curated selection of the dozen stars who created an undeniable wow on the red carpet.

Zendaya in Louis Vuitton

The Challengers and Euphoria star excels in working the curves of an evening gown. That was evident at the Globes, where Zendaya wore a beautifully structured custom Louis Vuitton column bustier gown in a saffron hue and crafted of double silk satin, with a pleated train and matching satin pumps. Another sign that Zendaya and her longtime stylist, Law Roach, make a terrific team was the decision to pair the gown with Bulgari high jewelry that showcased the vivid blue of paraiba tourmalines, including a 31.46-carat paraiba tourmaline surrounded by diamonds in her statement necklace. The mix of colors was inventive and thoroughly glamorous.

Nicole Kidman in Balenciaga

The Babygirl star consistently kills it on red carpets, but Nicole Kidman was truly radiant Sunday evening, starting with a ’60s-inspired hairstyle that exuded a Valley of the Dolls vibe. When Kidman turned on the red carpet, the low open line of her backless Balenciaga gown, crafted in crystal rhinestone embroidered mesh, created a terrific surprise. Kidman paired the look with a diamond-embellished Omega timepiece and high-jewelry diamonds by Boucheron.

Margaret Qualley in Chanel

The combination of sweet and sophisticated was executed beautifully by The Substance star Margaret Qualley, who wore head-to-toe Chanel. Qualley’s embroidered white silk dress, accented with white silk tulle ruffles and embellished with a black bow belt, required roughly 7,000 embroidery elements and 400 hours in the workroom for its handcraft. Qualley finished the look with Chanel high jewelry and Chanel shoes.

Allison Janney in Christian Siriano

This custom Christian Siriano draped-sleeve gown in baby crepe served as a fantastic showcase for Allison Janney’s beautiful shoulders. A best supporting actress nominee for The Diplomat, Janney finished her look with diamond jewels by Yeprem and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Elle Fanning in Balmain

Few stars are as versatile as Elle Fanning at embracing notions of modernity or classic glamour, and the co-star of A Complete Unknown channeled the latter beautifully in a look that also offered a unique backstory. Balmain went into its archives and resourced a Pierre Balmain dress from 1953, recreating and updating the belted ballgown to suit Fanning’s style today. To coordinate with the gown’s beaded animal-print bodice, Fanning’s jewels in 18-karat yellow gold by Cartier were from the jewelry house’s Panthère collection.

Zoe Saldaña in Saint Laurent

On the 2025 Golden Globes red carpet, Emilia Pérez star (who ended up winning best supporting actress) noted that she mentioned to Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello that she was in the mood to wear a chocolate hue for this event, and he used that as the jumping-off point for the actress’s strapless sequin gown and matching ruffled cape in silk taffeta. Cartier high jewelry, including a statement necklace in yellow gold and diamonds from the house’s Nature Sauvage collection, completed her look.

Ariana Grande in Givenchy

At famed Beverly Hills boutique Lily et Cie, the Wicked star fell in love with a gown Hubert de Givenchy designed for a 1966 collection, when the couturier was at the height of his designer-muse relationship with Audrey Hepburn. Accessorizing the dress with white evening gloves, Swarovski jewels, pointed-toe pumps and her side-swept bangs, the star indeed channeled a modern-day Audrey.

Glen Powell in Giorgio Armani

Nobody exuded cool-guy style better than Glen Powell, a best actor nominee for Netflix’s Hit Man. The actor opted for Giorgio Armani, a custom Made to Measure one-button evening jacket in dark chocolate brown velvet and featuring peak lapels in black satin, paired with black tuxedo trousers and a brown silk shirt. Powell’s accessories included Vacheron Constantin’s Overseas Dual Time watch in pink gold and sunglasses by Oliver Peoples.

Cynthia Erivo in Louis Vuitton

A best actress nominee for Wicked, Erivo is consistently fearless with her style, and that extended to this halter gown with dramatic structured peplum, a custom look by Louis Vuitton. The deep-V gown is crafted of hand-embroidered black lace and silver sequins and was paired with black lace boots also by Louis Vuitton. Erivo finished the look with a variety of diamond jewels by Roberto Coin.

Andrew Scott in Vivienne Westwood

Ripley star Andrew Scott caused a social-media sensation when he turned up at the Golden Globes in this monochromatic suit by Vivienne Westwood creative director Andreas Kronthaler. Fans debated the color: duck-egg blue? Tiffany blue? Meanwhile, the crisp look also was tailored quite nicely. Scott paired the look with the Luna pearl bracelet by Lagos jewelry.

Demi Moore in Armani Privé

The night’s best actress winner for a musical or comedy, Demi Moore also will be remembered for one of the night’s most impassioned speeches, noting that just prior to signing on for The Substance, she had resigned herself to never receiving accolades in her career, and she was delighted to be proven wrong. Moore looked both beautiful and regal in this strapless champagne-hued silk gown by Giorgio Armani Privé, accented with a curved geometric detail embellished with crystals. Moore completed the look with Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewels, including high-jewelry earrings crafted in 18-karat white gold and set with diamonds and opals.

Colman Domingo in Valentino

A regular favorite on the red carpet, Sing Sing star and best actor nominee Colman Domingo once again highlighted his playful-meets-elegant style, wearing a classic black Valentino tuxedo elevated by the whimsy of his polka-dot dress shirt, lush silk tie and bold diamond jewels by Boucheron, including the Plume de Paon brooch in 18-karat white gold and embellished with rose-cut and and round diamonds and the Glacier ring, crafted of diamonds and and marble set in white gold, from the house’s Carte Blanche collection. Domingo finished the look with a watch from Omega’s Constellation collection.
