THE style down the aisles is on top form right now with supermarkets brimming with clothes to give your wardrobe instant edge this summer.
And lower prices doesn’t mean compromising on quality because some pieces even look and feel designer – you just need to know where to find them and snap them up before they’re gone.
Whether you’re after a holiday wardrobe uplift, smart tailoring or stylish accessories, Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale, has trawled the shelves for you and reveals which items you should throw in your trolley at your next weekly shop.Â
Tu at Sainsbury’s
White Linen Blend Coord Waistcoat, £22, TU Clothing
White Broderie Full Maxi Skirt, £28, TU Clothing
Black Croissant Shoulder Bag One Size, £14, TU Clothing
I’m a big fan of Tu at Sainsbury’s and many of the pieces in my wardrobe are from the supermarket.
They have great basics including a black cross body bag that looks much more expensive than the £14 price tag.
There’s some great on trend pieces which won’t break the bank including a white midi skirt that is perfect for summer. Pair this with their waistcoat or wear with t-shirts, thin knits, and a blazer or light jacket over the top – there’s limitless options.Â
Tu also stocks a lot of other brands too and in some of its larger stores you can also shop the likes of Sosander, Simply Be and Little Mistress.
George at Asda
Black Poplin Tie Back Maxi Dress, £24
Floral Blouse, £15, George at Asda
Tan Strappy Open Toe Mule Sandals, £12.50, George at Asda
Summer has landed instore and online at George, From classic black midi dresses that you can wear year after year, to sandals that could be designer dupes for just £12.50 – you really don’t want to miss out.Â
George also does some great printed pieces like the floral blouse which would look lovely with a pair of jeans, some wide leg trousers or a midi skirt. It’s only £15 but looks more expensive.
As well as just releasing its holiday shop featuring a range of high summer pieces, the supermarket also has a range with reality star Billie Faiers where you can find some super comfortable basics.Â
F&F at Tesco
There have been a fair few viral sensations coming from Tesco recently and this doesn’t look like it’s going to be stopping anytime soon.
Pieces such as a linen monochrome embroidered co-ord and pinstripe three piece suit have been putting F&F at the forefront of fashion.Â
The supermarket’s new occasion range is also not one to be missed, featuring sequins that are perfect for summer, lots of linen and classic tailoring, this is sure to be a range that will be flying off the shelves.Â
Their satin slip dress is just £22.50 and it looks like something you would see on the catwalks.Â
Marks & Spencer
Satin Look Belted Longline Waistcoat, £45, Marks & Spencer
Straw Pearl Shoulder Shopper, £35, Marks & Spencer
Why supermarket fashion is on top form, says Fabulous Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale
I love shopping at the supermarkets – over the past few years whilst certain high street stores have folded, the style down the aisles has gone from strength to strength.
Now when I head in to do my weekly food shop I always have to make a pit stop at the clothing section to see what’s new in.Â
Not only are the pieces a great price, but the supermarkets have really nailed what their customers want.
From core wardrobe staples, good quality denim, pretty dresses and fun accessories they really have everything covered.Â
These days I only buy my jeans from the supermarkets having pairs from both Tu at Sainsbury’s and F&F at Tesco.
And to me there’s no better feeling than someone complimenting your outfit for you to tell them it’s from a supermarket.Â
Last week I picked up a gorgeous black crossbody bag from Sainsbury’s at just £14 and I’ve had so many people tell me it looks a lot more expensive.Â
Working in fashion I get to see and feel a lot of clothes and I can tell you that the quality of the pieces from these shops are great, especially for the price.
M&S is having a moment, having released its summer collection, and there is so much to choose from.Â
Whilst some of the pieces do have a slightly higher price point compared to other supermarkets, you can still find such good pieces for great prices.Â
Their pink co-ord for example can be worn together for summer occasions, or dressed down separately – and the jacket is a star buy with its cinched in waist.
And a pearl shoulder shopper bag is sure to make your outfit talk of the town.Â
