A mother and her baby were abducted from a shopping centre and forced on a terrifying drive around Melbourne by a man armed with a knife.
The woman had just parked at the Stud Park Shopping Centre supermarket in Rowville, in Melbourne’s south-east, at about 6pm last Friday when she was suddenly confronted by the man.
The offender, described as being Asian in appearance and between 20 and 35-years-old, threatened the mother with a knife and forced her back inside her Suzuki S Cross.
He got into the back seat beside her baby and then forced her to drive to electrical stores in Cranbourne and Frankston.
The knifeman then forced the mother to buy four Apple MacBooks while he remained in the back seat with the child.
He then forced his way into the driver’s seat and told the mother to get into the back seat before he drove to the Robert Booth Reserve.
After two terrifying hours, the knifeman got out of the car and fled along the Dandenong Creek path, carrying the four laptops.
The mother and her baby were not physically harmed during the terrifying encounter but the knifeman remains on the run.
He was wearing a grey coloured hoodie, a green fluoro vest over the top of the hoodie and black/grey pants with black running shoes.
The offender was also last seen carrying a shopping bag containing two Apple MacBook Pro computers in their boxes and two more boxes under his arm.
Victoria Police released photos of a man they wish to speak to over the incident on Friday.
