Taylor Swift has left the UK with one final act of kindness. The pop singer embarked on an 18-stop UK tour, including three nights in Anfield Stadium where Liverpool came alive.

During her stay in Liverpool, the star was embraced with open arms. The city transformed into a haven for Swifties, with new market stalls selling exclusive merchandise, interactive art installations celebrating her music, and Merseyrail distributing their own friendship bracelets. The city even temporarily renamed itself “Taylor Town” in her honour.

‌

Now, the 34-year-old has left the UK with one final act of kindness. Anti-poverty charity Trussell revealed Taylor Swift made a significant donation to support the work its community of 1,400 food bank centres carries out across the UK.

The donation is the latest act of kindness by Taylor Swift who, on the back of her three night sold-out residency at Anfield, made a generous donation to St Andrew’s Community Network’s in Clubmoor. She showed her support for a number of other local food banks and community organisations in Edinburgh, Cardiff and London when she performed in those cities earlier this summer.

Speaking about the donation, Sophie Carre, Director of Public Engagement at Trussell said: “We are extremely grateful to Taylor Swift for her generous donation to Trussell. We are delighted that she has chosen to support the work of food banks and this, alongside the other donations she has made directly to food banks across the country, will help people facing hunger and hardship during their toughest moments, while working towards a more just future where everyone can afford the essentials.

“Taylor has put a spotlight on the need for emergency food at a time when our food banks in the Trussell network are providing more support to people facing hardship than ever before. We believe it’s not right that anyone needs to use a food bank and while we work together to right this wrong, this donation will go a long way in supporting the vital work of food banks to help people facing hunger.

“Our vision is for a future without the need for food banks, where everyone has enough money to afford the essentials. We all have a role to play in achieving this and we’re extremely grateful to donors like Taylor Swift, who make it possible for us to do the work required to end the need for food banks together.”

‌

The donation will go directly to food banks in the Trussell community through the charity’s emergency grants programme, which supports food banks who need it most. Anyone who wants to follow in Taylor’s footsteps and play their part in ending the need for food banks can donate here.
