The owner of what’s hailed as Taylor Swift‘s go-to kebab shop has seen his business become an international hub for Swifties. As the megastar gears up for her London Eras Tour performances, her dedicated followers have been travelling to the modest shop to sample her ‘go-to’ dish.
Ahmed Khan, who has run Kentish Delight in London for more than 10 years, recalled how Taylor was once a “regular” at the establishment. The 55 year old revealed that during her romance with the British actor Joe Alwyn, who hails from neighbouring Tufnell Park, the singer-songwriter would drop by “multiple times a month”.
Taylor’s presence is still felt in the area as it’s been disclosed she placed “a huge order” for her upcoming concerts at Wembley Stadium. Mr Khan shared the final tally of dishes is yet to be determined but mentioned chicken shish kebabs and falafel wraps are part of the spread, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Furthermore, Mr Khan has revealed Taylor’s personal favourite item on the menu. For Swifties wanting to recreate the Tortured Poets Department singer’s order at their local, she apparently favours a chicken doner kebab loaded with fresh salad, garlic mayonnaise, and a touch of chilli sauce.
He shared fond memories of the star’s visits. He said: “Taylor used to come in all the time when she lived in London. Her boyfriend lived only ten minutes away. The two of them would come in together – multiple times a month sometimes.”
Mr Khan’s kebab shop has become a hotspot for Taylor Swift fans ever since the pop sensation filmed parts of her ‘Endgame’ music video there in 2017. The glitzy video, which also stars Ed Sheeran and Future, sees Taylor living it up in locations like Miami, Tokyo, and London, with a memorable scene set at Kentish Delight on Kentish Town Road.
Mr Khan shared: “I have a Taylor fan in here everyday. They come from all over the world – Europe, North America, South America. France, Spain, Mexico, Chile. One fan came all the way from Brunei just to come to our kebab shop.”
Julia Steczek, a 17 year old superfan from Poland, made sure to visit Kentish Delight on Wednesday (June 19) as part of her ultimate Taylor Swift tour. She gushed: “It’s our first day in London and I knew I wanted to come here. It’s one of the Taylor Swift spots to visit.”
In anticipation of seeing Taylor live, Julia decided to try the pop star’s go-to meal just days before the concert. Excitedly, she added: “I’m going on Friday. I can’t wait.”
On Friday, 21 June, Taylor performed the first three of eight sold-out gigs at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium. She will then hit the stage again on Saturday (June 22), and Sunday (June 23).
The Shake It Off singer will continue to dazzle fans across Europe with shows in Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan, and more, before making her grand return to London for another five nights of performances from August 15 to August 20.
