Taylor Swift defends tour in row with Dave Grohl about playing live

Thanking fans for their support, she said: “Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band who are gonna be playing live for you for three and a half hours tonight – they deserve this so much.”

In the past, Grohl had praised Swift, saying in 2015: “I’m officially obsessed. She might want to get a restraining order because I’m all about Swift.”

Swift previously discussed her preparation for the three-and-a half-hour set, telling Time magazine in December that she had been in training for six months.

“Every day I would run on the treadmill, singing the entire set out loud. Fast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs,” she said.

“Then I had three months of dance training, because I wanted to get it in my bones. I wanted to be so over-rehearsed that I could be silly with the fans, and not lose my train of thought.”

Fans on Swift’s tour include the Prince of Wales, who attended the Wembley gig for his 42nd birthday and later posed for a selfie with the singer and his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

During Sunday’s show, Swift was joined on-stage by her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs footballer Travis Kelce, who dressed up as a backing dancer in top hat and tails.
