A surge in temperatures has coincided with a spate of tourist disappearances in Greece, where visitors have been warned about the dangers of going for a walk in unfamiliar terrain in blistering heat.
Nine tourists have vanished in just over a week. Most have been found dead or are feared to be after setting off on hikes in extreme heat.
The disappearances started this month when the British broadcaster Michael Mosley, 67, went missing while walking back to his resort on the Greek island of Symi.
He was found dead last Sunday after a four-day search, lying in rocky terrain after taking a wrong turn on his way back from the beach, having apparently collapsed from severe exhaustion.
