Suicide Kill The Justice League Dev Suffers Layoffs Following The Game’s Poor Sales – PlayStation Universe

Rocksteady Studios, the developer behind Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, has confirmed that a number of staff have been laid off following the commercial disappointment of the title.

As reported by Eurogamer, Rocksteady has cut its QA department nearly by half in the last month alone, lowering its 33-strong team to 15 as part of a “restructuring” following the lacklustre sales of Suicide Squad. One ex-developer on social media revealed they had been told they are being made redundant during their paternity leave.

The report also states that staff at Rocksteady (who wished to remain anonymous) revealed that their colleagues have been left with more work as a result of the job losses in the company’s QA department, which includes individuals with specialised knowledge.

Some of the staff members who have lost their jobs had been at Rocksteady for more than five years, and senior management within the developer have acknowledged that the losses will result in a decline in product quality.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in February 2024, but was seen as a disappointment when compared to Rocksteady’s previous single-player AAA titles with the Arkham trilogy. Last week, it was reported that the studio is working on an unannounced project, which may be related to murmurs the company is looking to get back to its roots.
