Strictly’s Tess Daly interrupts results show to make announcement

The BBC has announced that Amy Dowden will be absent from the results show due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

After her performance with JB Gill on Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing, Amy felt unwell backstage, prompting show bosses to dial 999.

“Amy was feeling unwell, so an ambulance was called as a precaution,” said a representative for Amy. “She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern. We request Amy’s privacy in matters of health is kindly respected,” reports the Mirror.

The East of England Ambulance Service confirmed: “We were called just after 9pm on Saturday to attend a medical emergency at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood.”

“An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient, an adult female, was taken to Barnet Hospital for further care.”

However, just minutes into the results show, Tess Daly paused to confirm Amy would not be there.

“Before we get started, Amy is unable to be with us for tonight’s show,” Tess simply stated before revealing which celebrities were safe.

Amy and JB, who donned Scarecrow costumes for the Halloween week, scored 32 points from the judges for their Foxtrot.

Motsi Mabuse praised JB during the feedback session: “I feel like you have gone from strength to strength. You have spent time on your fundamentals, and sometimes, they take time.

“I loved your transitions, they were on point and you guys are such a strong team and you see that during the dances. You see, there is a connection, you see that you’re leading, you see you are doing the job a man is supposed to do.”

Shirley Ballas lavished praise on JB for mastering a “difficult move” and exclaimed: “That was simply amazing. Your ballroom frame was very impressive.”

While concurring with Shirley, Anton du Beke offered a more critical view, remarking: “You did lose shape if I am being brutal. This is your first ballroom dance since the first week, and everything that you have worked on is standing you in such good stead.”

In a dramatic turn of events last weekend, Amy and JB found themselves in the dance-off but were ultimately saved by the judges, resulting in Paul Merson‘s departure.

As the competition intensifies, another celebrity couple will face elimination from the BBC contest this week.

The remaining ten couples are set to dazzle the dance floor next week during the much-anticipated icons-themed week when Strictly Come Dancing makes its grand return on Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
