Chris admitted he’s felt overwhelmed all week
Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris McCausland halted the BBC show with an emotional performance and praise for a fellow Liverpool star. Tonight, Chris and his dance partner, Dianne Buswell were tasked with performing a Waltz to “You’ll Never Walk Alone” by Gerry and the Pacemakers.
Following the routine, the studio audience leapt to their feet to issue a resounding wave of applause. Head judge Shirley Ballas, who hails from Wallasey, said: “I found that extremely emotional.”
The judges issued high praise for Chris’ footwork and posture throughout the routine, only delivering small notes on how to improve. Craig Revel Harwood said: “You covered so much of the floor. I thought it was brilliant.”

Motsi Mabuse said: “When I see you dance the first thought in my mind is never technique. This dance was above that. I could really feel your emotions. That is something not everyone can do.
“I could feel every emotion and I could see it in your face and body. For me, this is so much more important than technique because it’s something you leave us with and carry on and always remember what you are giving us is absolutely sensationally special.”
Chris took the moment to highlight the Strictly Come Dancing band’s singer Tommy Blaize, from Toxteth, who deserved his own moment in the sun. Tommy was responsible for performing tonight’s rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone.
He said: “I just want to say Tommy who is behind me has been singing on this show for 20 years. and he’s from Liverpool and not only was it poignant for him to sing this for himself tonight but for me to have him sing this. So a round of applause for Tommy, please.”
During Chris’ backstage interview with Claudia Winkleman, he said: “I’ve been having a moment all week. On the back of last Saturday I was quite overwhelmed by the reaction of the audience and just listening to the song has been an emotional week.
“It’s a Liverpool song. I’m wearing some red today, [Dianne] is wearing some blue today, and I hope we represent the city. It’s a song about togetherness and hope.”
Craig Revel Harwood scored the pair eight while Shirley, Motsi and Anton Du Beke scored nine each. They left tonight with a grand total of 35.
