Fans of Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two were left shocked tonight as eliminated star Toyah Willcox took an apparently unprompted dig at fellow contestant Chris McCausland.

The 1980s singer-songwriter, 66, appeared on Monday night’s episode of the show with pro partner Neil Jones following their elimination on Sunday night.

The pair were eliminated following a dance off against Paul Merson and Karen Hauer, in which Toyah reprised her samba to the Disney song Poor Unfortunate Souls.

Following both performances, the judges were unanimous in their decision to send Paul and Karen packing – sending Toyah and Neil home as a result.

This makes Toyah the second celebrity to be eliminated, following swimmer Tom Dean’s exit during week one of the competition.

Discussing her performance with host Fleur East, Toyah reflected on her time in the ballroom – and offered some shocking advice to the remaining competitors.

When asked by Fleur what advice or tips she had for the other celebrities, the Echo Beach singer laughed and clapped, then pointed to the camera and said: ‘If you don’t want to do a dance-off, get rid of Chris!’

Neil and Fleur then seemed to share an awkward glance as Toyah collapsed into her pro partner’s lap in a fit of laughter.

Toyah then clarified: ‘You’re all going to have to face a dance off,’ while Neil joked: ‘I think she has chosen her winner already.’

After watching the painful exchange, fans took to social media to share their thoughts. And many were left outraged by Toyah’s apparent vitriol for Chris.

‘That was such a nasty dig Toyah just made at Chris. Malicious, vicious and jealous.’ wrote maxbiddle98 on X.

‘Toyah? What was that about?’ asked a confused andytbrg.

‘Toyah was a bit mean about Chris on It Takes Two,’ remarked jubblyjob.

‘Did I just hear right Toyah on ITT??? You could hear a pin drop in the studio!!!’ said missyousomuch.

‘Was Toyah trying to throw Chris under the bus!!’ wondered paisley000.

Chris, meanwhile, has proved an instant favourite with judges and viewers alike. On Saturday’s show, he and partner Dianne Buswell scored 30 points for their ‘staggering’ Wayne’s World-inspired performance.

The pair transformed into Garth and Wayne from the 1992 hit to perform a jive which had both the judges and audience cheering.

The fan-favourite danceearned the pair their highest score so far – bagging a staggering 7, 7, 8, 8 for a total of 30 points.

Chris – the first blind contestant to appear on the show – has helped to usher in a new era of inclusivity for the show.

The show has introduced audio description for the first time this year, allowing a whole new audience to tune in for the first time.

And Chris – who lost his eyesight aged 22 – has emerged an early fan favourite, with bookies placing him at odds of 10/11 to take the glitterball trophy.

It Takes Two airs weekdays from 6.30pm on BBC Two and iPlayer.
