A judge has criticised the rapper Stormzy’s “dangerous and irresponsible” actions as he was banned from driving for nine months after an undercover police officer caught him using his phone behind the wheel.
The musician, whose real name is Michael Ebenazer Owuo Junior, was behind the wheel of a Rolls-Royce Wraith when he was spotted using the handset on Addison Road in West Kensington at 3.37pm on March 7 last year.
Wimbledon magistrates’ court in southwest London was told that a police officer knocked on his “tinted” passenger window and said: “Get rid of your tints and get off your phone.”
