DIOR & STONE ISLAND
ETHAN HART
What’s better than one supe-rbrand on your back? Yes, you know what we’re going to say. Dior and Stone Island have come together for a vibrant collaboration that promises to seriously up your style game this summer. Brit fashion titan Kim Jones (and artistic director at Dior Men’s) explains that ‘there is a meeting of Monsieur Dior and Massimo Osti’s work for Stone Island in this collection. It’s the coming together of “obsessives”. They might have been people from opposite ends of the fashion spectrum — from an haute couture vision to that of military functionality — yet I think they’d recognise something in each other and in what they achieved through clothing.’ It is perhaps the ultimate recognition of streetwear and high fashion’s long-held skirmishes. Just imagine how useful all those pockets will be.

Wimbledon is in full swing and if that hasn’t tempted you into the prevalent tennis-core mood, perhaps nothing will. But if you’re keen to make like Zendaya et al, then cast an eye over Armani’s classic Tennis collection, which is just the thing to perfect your forearm in. Other luxury on-court looks are available: enter, Gucci with its rival Italian Tennis collection that happily comes with its jaunty red and green signature trim. The mood continues at Selfridges, where Sportopia summer is in full swing complete with a tennis-inspired menu at Le Club Lacoste on the rooftop (where you can also catch the last week of the tournament).

Is it just us or does Jovan Owusu-Nepaul (AKA the snappiest-dressed parliamentary candidate we’ve ever seen) have something of the artfully layered thrift-shop-esque Duckie from Pretty in Pink about him? Stay tuned for our next thesis on why everyone’s dressing like the Brat Pack (they are).
If Only If
We are now firmly ensconced in wafting season. ‘Do my sun dresses have enough froth?’ is perhaps a question you may have been asking yourself. If you’re unsure let us direct you to the very lovely If Only If, ostensibly a nightwear brand, but we’re also packing its divine Victoriana nighties for the beach. It has created a small but perfectly formed collaboration with fellow vintage-inspired Cabbages & Roses. The soft modal scoop-neck frock with pretty lemon yellow print (also comes in kids’ sizing) is crying out for a romantic, sunkissed moment. Make it happen.
