Steam’s Winter Sale is almost here, and there are a huge number of games expected to get discounts — we’ve got the first few here, as well as the start time for savings
The Steam Autumn Sale kicked off less than a month ago, but it’s already time to do it all again.
The Winter Sale often has more discounts than the Autumn Sale, offering games that came out in the same calendar year at a discount such as Game of the Year winner Baldur’s Gate 3 in 2023.
So, load up your Steam wishlist, and make sure your card information is up to date — doing so will mean you get a notification when an item you’re interested in goes on sale, meaning you can skip the wait and get buying (and playing) sooner.
Oh, and while you’re here, don’t forget Epic Games is handing out free games every week, too, with a second one coming today!
Here’s when the Steam Winter Sale 2024 kicks off today.
Steam Winter Sale start time
The Steam Winter Sale kicks off on December 19, less than a month after the Autumn sale, and going by previous sales, it’ll start at 6PM GMT for UK gamers.
Not in the UK? That’s 10AM PST, 1PM EST, or 7PM CET.
Valve has confirmed the deals will run until January, so you’re in luck if you get Steam gift cards for Christmas next week.
Discounted games in the Steam Winter Sale
Valve’s sale trailer, shared last week, showed a little of what we can expect.
Here’s everything we spotted in the trailer:
- Metal Slug Tactics
- Assassin’s Creed: Mirage
- Core Keeper
- Carx Street
- Helldivers 2
- Manor Lords
- The Last of Us Part 1
- Castle Crashers
- Planet Coaster 2
- TCG Card Shop Simulator
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Final Fantasy XVI
- Sonic x Shadow Generations
We can also make out the likes of Remnant II, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Little Kitty Big City, Detroit Become Human, Mafia, Mortal Kombat 1 and plenty more from the image at the end.
It looks as though titles like TCG Shop Simulator will be getting their first sale discounts.
Some discounts are already live, although not necessarily tied to the Steam Winter Sale. Grab the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which has the entire trilogy and all DLC, for £3.99, and God of War Ragnarok on PC for £39.99.
We’re not sure if we’ll see Steam Deck discounts, though. Valve’s handheld comes in LCD and OLED variants, and the former is seemingly low on stock. As yet, Steam sales have only discounted the LCD models.
