A steakhouse has been branded ‘mean’ online after denying a customer his £100 prize after he devoured their 3.2-kilo mixed grill challenge.
Cattlemans Steakhouse in Devon, UK are known for offering a series of famous eating challenges to diners – with one being known as the ‘Mega Mixed Grill Challenge’.
The meaty challenge requires you finish a massive plate of meat and various trimmings within 60 minutes, with a £50 charge for anyone who fails.

This isn’t a regular mixed grill either, with the mega meal containing a 20oz rump steak, 12oz of gammon, four sausages, three chicken wings, a chicken breast and a 6oz cheeseburger.
Keen to take on the challenge was punter Andrew, whose attempt to eat the monster meal was broadcast live on the restaurant’s social media page last Sunday (19 May).
The video shows Andrew powering through the plate within the first 20 minutes as he scoffs all of the meat.
However after that he begins to slow down and struggle with to stomach the rest of the mega meal.
With just five minutes left on the clock, Andrew had just a handful of scraps of chips and three onion rings on his plate but he was left retching as he attempted to polish off the scraps.

Andrew finally accepted defeat with three minutes to go, posing for a photo with his nearly empty plate.
However fans of the steakhouse weren’t impressed with the decision to fail Andrew over a few stray chips and onion rings, saying that he was ‘properly robbed’ of the £100 prize.
Another user also joked that he could’ve stuck a chip ‘up each nostril’ and the rest in his ‘cheeks’ in order to win.
Bit harsh really.
However not everyone felt sorry for Andrew, with other comments mocking him for leaving such a little amount of food on the plate.

“Does he get to see the timer? Or just couldn’t be ar**d? I find it hard to believe you could fail by so little,” one person wrote, while a second added: “For £100, I’m sticking that mouthful away.”
Easy enough to say from behind your phone screen.
The uproar meant that owner Gary King was forced to defend himself, insisting that you ‘can’t move the goalposts’ with the challenge.
Admitting that he did feel sorry for Andrew, Gary said: “After 20-25 minutes your stomach is saying to your brain ‘I’m full and I can’t eat any more’ so the more you eat in that period, the more chance you’ve got of getting it all down your neck.”

Suggesting that he should come back and attempt the challenge at a later date on a completely empty stomach, he added: “He was of that mentality and he started really well but then he got to the stage where he didn’t have a lot of food left but he hit the wall with a big, hard thud.
“He was on the verge of throwing up and he just physically couldn’t do it.
“I felt sorry for him.”
