Starfield’s big May update sees huge rise in Xbox player numbers
Our latest gameplay chart shows that since the arrival of May 15’s major update, Starfield has leapt up nine places to re-join the top 20 with a very respectable 72% boost in Xbox players.
That Starfield update was indeed an important one. It added improved surface maps (the layout of the game’s surface areas have been a big complaint ever since launch, so this alone was a big deal), along with new gameplay options, Xbox Series X display settings, and more.
We’ve got Starfield down as one of the best Xbox exclusives, but recently talked about how almost half of its Xbox players haven’t joined the main story faction, suggesting that the main story wasn’t always a win with everyone. It’s typical to see games shift up and down on our gameplay charts, and it’ll be interesting to see how Starfield fares next week, and whether these major changes with the latest update are enough to keep players absorbed in the starfield for some time to come.
