Before Friday’s training session, Mikel Arteta’s squad held a period of reflection for the families who are suffering from recent flash floods in Spain.
It was reported this week that torrential rain had brought devastation to communities in eastern Spain.
In his press conference on Friday, Mikel Arteta began by extending his thoughts and sympathies to those who have been effected by the situation.
“Before we start to talk about football, I would like to talk about the terrible disaster that is affecting my country at the moment,” he said.
“We want to send from our side our thoughts, our full support and our sympathy to everyone that is getting effected – all the families and all the individuals and obviously all of the country that is pulling together to try to find the best possible solution in this difficult moment.
“From here, we just want to show our full support and ask everybody in the way that they can to support because it’s terrible what has happened.”
