With the cost-of-living crisis squeezing budgets, the prospect of an affordable European adventure may seem out of reach for many this summer. However, savvy travellers are turning to the Interrail and Eurail train pass systems to make their money go further.

A one-month Interrail Global Pass, which covers 33 countries, can be purchased for just £188 – but holidaymakers need to be quick to catch the deal. This provides unlimited train travel across the continent, allowing holidaymakers to hop on and off services as they please.

Here’s how to make the most of a month-long break:

· Holiday makers could use their Interrail pass to journey from London to Paris, Berlin, Prague, Vienna and Budapest over the course of a month. Eurostar isn’t included in your pass, but you get a significant reduction.

· Travellers can enjoy the all the Mediterranean Sea has to offer and catch the trains from Valencia to Barcelona, Marseille, Nice, Genoa and finish their journey in Rome.

· Another route could take globetrotters from France to Türkiye via train from Paris to Munich, Zagreb, Belgrade, Sofia and ending in Istanbul.

· Other spectacular routes include starting in Paris, then heading to Amsterdam, over to Berlin, south to Prague, then on to Vienna and finally Budapest.
