This post will support the implementation and delivery of the Local Supported Employment Initiative, which is a DWP grant funded scheme to support Sandwell residents with a learning disability and/or autism into employment.
Applicants should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a learning disability and/or autism into paid employment and believe that everyone can work with the right support.
You will provide professional and intensive support to jobseekers so they can secure sustainable paid employment by following the 5 principles of the Supported Employment model. This will include engaging with jobseekers, their families, and circles of support, carrying out vocational profiling, agreeing action plans, engaging with employers to create paid employment opportunities, work tasters, work trials and work experience.
You will use job analysis to match individuals to roles and provide in-work support including job coaching. The job coaching element of this role will require you to be creative and ‘think outside the box’, you will be practically orientated and able to adapt quickly to different working environments and duties.Â
As a job coach you may be travel training, working inside or outside, using equipment, or required to have high levels of manual dexterity. You will need to be able to understand policies, procedures, and processes in different work environments, and to translate these to the jobseekers you are supporting using task analysis.
We would like to hear from applicants who have:
- Level 3 in IAG or equivalent. Level 2 in English and Maths. Experience of supporting people with disabilities into employment. Experience of working to and achieving employment targets. Knowledge of the barriers people with disabilities and/or mental health needs experience in the workplace.
