The son of a Spanish actor has been convicted of decapitating his lover and dismembering and scattering his body on one of Thailand’s most famous holiday islands.
Daniel Sancho, a chef who broadcast on YouTube, faced a death sentence for the murder of Edwin Arrieta, a Colombian surgeon, on the island of Koh Phangan in August last year. However, the court reduced the penalty to life imprisonment because of his co-operation during the trial.
On the larger neighbouring island of Koh Samui, the provincial court accepted that Sancho had carried out a premeditated murder of Arrieta and cut up his body into about 20 pieces, scattering them on land and at sea so that most of them were never recovered.
