Spain has been hit by new flooding that sent cars floating down the streets of Cadaqués, a coastal town popular with tourists in the northeast Catalonia region.
It comes nine days after massive floods devastated areas of the southeast, particularly the Valencia region, claiming at least 219 lives.
The flooding at Cadaques, in Girona province, swept away some 30 vehicles that had been parked in the then dry gully that runs through the municipality in the Alt Empordà area.

Pia Serinyana, the town’s mayor, said that the rain fell with maximum intensity between 2am and 3am and that water flowed down the gully. An alert is still in effect in the area as the rainfall is expected to reach 100 litres per square metre in
