Sony has released a teaser for its next-gen flagship mirrorless camera, the Alpha 1 II, which is slated to launch on 19 November 2024. A successor to the 2021 model that’s catered towards professionals such as sports photographers, it is expected to offer significant improvements in high-speed photography and more.

However, Sony has yet to unveil the specifications and features for the Alpha 1 II. The same can be said for the upcoming camera’s design, though it would be unsurprising if it retains the same design as its predecessor or features minor changes with yet quality-of-life improvements.

For your reference, the Alpha 1 features a 50.1MP Exmor RS CMOS full-frame sensor paired with the Bionz XR processor, enabling 30fps continuous shooting with advanced autofocus and auto exposure capabilities. It features real-time eye tracking AF that works seamlessly for humans, animals and even birds, improved electronic shutter that minimises rolling shutter effects and supports anti-flicker.

The camera excels in video production with 8K 30p recording and 4K up to 120p, while its onboard 5-axis stabilisation system ensures smooth stabilisation. There’s also an enhanced heat management system which allows for prolonged 8K recording sessions.
