Despite Sony having hosted its State of Play this week, revealing its plans for PS5 for the rest of the year and 2025, an insider hints that there’s more to come.

Sony’s most recent State of Play event, where it showcases news and trailers about upcoming games, and the PlayStation ecosystem in general, had quite a few interesting reveals on Tuesday night.

The biggest news was the announcement of a sequel to 2020’s Ghost Of Tsushima, called Ghost Of Yōtei, which is set to come out in 2025. But the showcase also revealed downloadable content for Astro Bot and Alan Wake 2, and a remaster for Horizon Zero Dawn, all coming out this year.

Sony has plans to release Death Stranding 2 and Marathon in 2025, among other titles, but a reliable insider suggests that there is more beyond even that.

On gaming forum ResetEra, fans were discussing the State of Play, when one fan began celebrating the release of Ghost Of Yōtei, Death Stranding 2, and Marathon in the same year.

Insider Shinobi602 then replied with a gif and caption, saying, ‘But wait, there’s more,’ adding to their message, ‘Maybe.’

Shinobi didn’t go into further details about which additional games could be added to the release schedule but leaks suggest that Marvel’s Wolverine, which currently has no official release date, is coming out in 2025, and that could be what the insider is alluding to. Although developer Insomniac is also rumoured to be working on a Venom spin-off game, which may come out before that.

Although a sequel to Ghost Of Tsushima was leaked years ago it’s impossible to guess at what other titles Sony’s various first party developers might be working on, with Returnal developer Housemarque, Demon’s Souls remake studio Bluepoint, and Naughty Dog having given no clue as to what their next games are.

The only other confirmed first party exclusive at the moment is live service title Fairgame$, although what its fate might be after the debacle of Concord is currently unknown.

If there are more exclusives to come though they may be by third party developers and only published by Sony, such as The Midnight Walk, which was unveiled during the State of Play, and Hideo Kojima’s Physint.

Shinobi didn’t mention when the new game(s) might be announced, but there is still the Tokyo Game Show this week and The Game Awards in December to look forward to. There will also very likely be another State of Play in the first couple of months next year.

If there are more titles planned for 2025, then PlayStation could end up with a very busy year, which would certainly be a contrast to the last two.

Adding multiformat titles to the list, we get GTA 6, Borderlands 4, Civilization 7, and Indiana Jones And The Great Circle (which Xbox and Bethesda have confirmed for PlayStation 5 next spring).
