In this role, Patrick will be responsible for bolstering the Charge Point Operator’s (CPO) portfolio of strategic partnerships with UK landlords and property developers.

A highly experienced leader, Patrick has joined SMS from Osprey Charging where he held the position of Property Director for over five years, and Interim CEO for the year prior. Patrick was the driving force behind laying the foundations for Osprey’s UK rapid charging network, helping the company win its first national partnerships as well as securing seeding funding and institutional investment as Interim CEO.

With over 18 years’ experience working in the cleantech sector specialising in EV charging infrastructure and renewable energy, Patrick has held a number of senior leadership positions. This includes time as Director of Biomass Investments at Temporis Wind, Sales and Marketing Director at GI Energy, and Commercial Director at The Television Corporation. He is also the founder and owner of Pitnacree Hydro LPP, as well as an investor in a number of sustainable focussed startups, such as Sitcut-Recycled Polymar Composites and Black Cow Vodka.

Eugenio Herrero, Managing Director, SMS Ltd commented:

“What sets Patrick apart is the fact he is a proven innovator with unrivalled experience and contacts in the EV charging sector and wider industry. He is a well-known and well-respected senior leader who will keep us on track in our pledge to help the UK develop a future-fit public EV charging network built on the ‘three Rs’: Right location. Right time. Right speed. I look forward to working with him more closely.”

Patrick Sherriff, Property Director, SMS added:

“What attracted me to SMS is its clear heritage for delivering large-scale energy infrastructure projects and its free-from-complexity approach to the UK’s public EV charging rollout. This will be vital as we head closer to the UK government’s ban on petrol and diesel cars in 2035 and as the EV market continues to pick up the pace. I’m excited to work with the team to continue the company’s current momentum, and ensure we build on our reputation as a trusted partner for landlords and developers who are looking to deliver EV infrastructure that meets the needs of the public.”
