Sky’s added a new freebie to its TV package and customers can save £288

Must read

Sky is known to frequently drop the price of its popular Stream, TV, and Netflix packages but in its newest surprise deal the provider has gone an extra step further. Offering its usually paid-for add-on ‘Ultra HD’ for free, for anyone that locks into the contract.

Priced at a cheaper £26 per month, Sky shoppers are already saving a huge £108 per year on the contract, and can now make the most of its freebie Ultra HD feature for no added cost, which tops up the savings amount to a huge £288.

If you aren’t aware of the contract, this popular TV pick usually includes Sky’s nifty Stream box (which can plug into any HDMI-port telly), a basic Netflix account and Sky TV channels.

The added ultra high definition feature usually costs viewers £6 on top of the existing Sky Stream package price, but instead, Sky’s scrapped the fee for bill payers. As its site says “includes Ultra HD on us”.

Without the provider’s existing Sky Stream price drop of £6 and scrapping the Ultra HD £6 fee the exact same package would usually cost an extra £12 per month. That’s a saving of £288 across the 18-month contract if you were to take out the Stream package and click the UHD add-on.

Ultra High Definition helps boost the picture quality, giving viewers a better experience for their money. It has four times more pixels than the standard HD TV, so you’ll see more detail when watching sports, movies and TV. It’s not available on all types of Sky content and is restricted to select sports and entertainment content.

However, as the Sky Stream box (that doesn’t need any pesky satellite dishes or installation fees) can be used on older TV – as long as they have an HDMI port – it’s a chance for viewers without the latest smart telly to get better quality viewing for a fraction of the price it would cost if it was installed into the TV, like the Sky Glass set for example.

The swanky Sky Glass TV is often seen as an ugrade from its simple plug-in Stream box, offering all the features of its smart TV box and more integrated within a smart device. It’s also another product cut in price as part of its ongoing sale, usually £14 per month this is now available for a much cheaper £11 – a £140 contract saving.

In other TV deals, Samsung has added its TV sets into its cashback sale and in time for sports-loving fans and the upcoming 2024 Euro Championship. The Galaxy retailer will give as much as £500 back in cash to shoppers when they buy select models, which you can see here.

Amazon is also jumping on the TV price drop bandwagon with discounts on its Fire TVs, often dubbed as a cheaper alternative to the Sky Glass set, shoppers can find as much as £200 off Fire devices.
