Sir Paul McCartney has announced he will be performing in the UK this year for three special shows, and fans online have been sent into a frenzy over the news.
The 81-year-old will be making his return later this year in what will be his first UK tour dates since 2018 and first live UK show since his Glastonbury Festival appearance in 2022.
The Hey Jude hitmaker is set to perform at Manchester’s new Co-op Live arena in December before going on to play two nights at the O2 in London.
The musician stated: “I’m excited to be ending my year and 2024 tour dates in the UK. It’s always such a special feeling to play shows on our home soil.
“It’s going to be an amazing end to the year. Let’s get set to party. I can’t wait to see you.”
Responding, fans have taken to social media in their droves to celebrate the news.

One fan penned: “Dunno if I can resist this one!” while another immediately stated: “Gonna try and get those Paul McCartney tickets on Friday.”
A second wrote: “OH MY FU..G GOD, Paul McCartney UK bound, on tour! Manchester and London! Missed out on Gilmour tickets, ain’t missing out on Macca tickets! Have to go solo and deffo sell a kidney for this one! How exciting, fingers crossed.”
However, others were disappointed by the lack of information on the prices and as well as the location of the shows.
“Not Liverpool? #Traitor,” one person complained. with another adding: “Disappointed no Liverpool gig announced. I hope they don’t do a last minute announcement after I’ve maxed out my credit card on tics, travel and overnight stay in Manchester, I will be fumin’! lol.”

Someone else asked: “Fancy telling us how much Paul McCartney tickets will be before just putting them out on Wednesday @TheCoopLive really hope he’s better than making us all poor.”
The shows will conclude McCartney’s Got Back tour, which launched in 2022 with 16 US shows.
Earlier this year, McCartney expressed his delight after being reunited with his old bass guitar which had been stolen.
