Sir Elton John returns to the stage as he makes SURPRISE guest appearance at Dua Lipa’s Royal Albert Hall concert to perform duet – after she snubbed his Glastonbury headliner set last year

Sir Elton John made a surprise guest appearance at Dua Lipa‘s Royal Albert Hall concert on Thursday evening, despite snubbing him at Glastonbury Festival in 2023.

The singing sensation, 77, joined Dua, 29, on stage to perform their duet Cold Heart in front of the crowd.

Last year, Dua said she didn’t join Elton on stage at Glastonbury because she was ‘hosting dinner with friends’ instead.

Elton instead performed their song solo and asked the crowd to sing her part.

He said on stage: ‘The person I did this song with isn’t here, so I’m going to ask you to sing her part please and sing it loudly’.

Elton retired last year following his mammoth Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour but insisted he will still perform from time to time.

Dua and Elton couldn’t wipe the smiles off their faces as they held hands on stage while singing their hit song.

Elton previously said: ‘I’ve been clear with my fans that while the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour is the culmination of my touring career, I still plan to perform live. What this will entail I don’t know yet.’

At his final show in Stockholm, he told the crowd: ‘I will never be touring again, but I may do something in the future – a one-off thing – but that’s miles away.

‘I want to appreciate my family, my sons, my husband, everything. I’ve earned it.’

Elton’s return to the stage comes after he joked there is ‘not much’ left of him as he is missing different organs following his several health issues.

The Tiny Dancer singer referenced the various organs and body parts he’s had removed during a candid chat after the screening of Elton John: Never Too Late at the 62nd New York Film Festival earlier this month.

The iconic performer confessed: ‘To be honest with you, there’s not much of me left.

‘I don’t have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix. I don’t have a prostate. I don’t have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee.

‘In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip. But I’m still here. And I can’t thank you [enough], you’re the people that made me.’

At the annual film festival, Elton also delighted fans in attendance with his incredible vocal skills as he took to the stage with a touching piano performance.

The Grammy-winner also paid a sweet tribute to his husband David Furnish and their sons Zachary and Elijah for making him ‘the happiest man in the world’.

The Rocket Man icon told the audience that he’s ‘never felt happiness’ like he’s feeling now, and explained his decision to step back from live on the road.

‘As you know, I decided to stop touring because I’m 77 years of age, I’ve done all there is to do, to play. I’ve succeeded. I’ve been there and I’ve done it,’ he said.

‘I’ve still got to make room because I’m still going to have music in my life.

‘But the most important thing in my life are David, Zachary and Elijah, and my family and my friends. I found utopia and I’m so thrilled.’

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Sir Elton has been left with limited vision in one eye after battling a ‘severe eye infection.’

The hitmaker, who played his final shows last summer, explained how he has spent the past few months ‘recuperating at home.’

In a lengthy post on Instagram, Elton shared: ‘Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye.

‘I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.

‘I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks.’

Elton concluded: ‘I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far.’

Although retiring from touring last year he did perform at his star-studded Oscar party in March.

And he is reportedly in talks to create a musical based on his stellar catalogue of classic hits, which would include hits like Your Song, Candle In The Wind and Tiny Dancer, The Sun has reported.

As the publication spoke to his husband David Furnish at the 32nd annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscars viewing party, he revealed the pair are always thinking about it.

David, 61, said: ‘A catalogue musical, we are always looking at it. I haven’t found anything yet that really covers… I think if we wanted to do it, we would want to do it in a way that was really innovative and really exciting and different.

‘We’re open to any great ideas and it’s a wonderful catalogue. But at the moment, with the two other musicals, we’re quite busy as it is.’

Elton has a busy year ahead, as his Devil Wears Prada show is set to launch in Plymouth in July, followed by his musical Tammy Faye, about the televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker, which is heading to Broadway later this year.

Elton struggled to walk the red carpet at his own event after he underwent a knee replacement in January.

Giving an update on his health, David revealed Elton will be undergoing a replacement on the other knee in a couple of weeks so that he is all fit for the summer.

He explained: ‘He’s doing amazing. He’s having another knee done in a couple of weeks and by the time the summer rolls around, he’ll have two brand new spanking knees. I think you’ll see him breakdancing down the carpet next year.’

Some of the world’s biggest stars descended on the glitzy event to watch the 96th Academy Awards unfold and the event raised a record £8.4million.

The music legend performed a medley of his greatest hits after mingling with the stars in attendance including Elizabeth Hurley, Heidi Klum and Julia Fox.
