Shoplifter jailed for ‘Olympian-scale’ £500,000 refund fraud

A female fraudster who made more than £500,000 by tricking high street retailers into refunding her for items she stole from them has been jailed for ten years.

Narinder Kaur was behind a nationwide “tsunami of dishonesty” against stores including Boots, Debenhams, John Lewis, Monsoon, House of Fraser and TK Maxx.

The 54-year-old, from Wiltshire, travelled all over the country between July 2015 and February 2019 during an “Olympian-scale” fraud involving more than a thousand incidents.

After a trial at Gloucester crown court, Kaur was convicted of 26 charges of fraud, possessing and transferring criminal property and perverting the course of justice. Kaur was jailed for ten years, the judge saying she had offended on an “industrial scale”.
