Barking: Alleged shoplifter grapples with Asda security guard

An alleged shoplifter has been caught on camera wrestling for a bag of shopping with a security guard at an Asda supermarket.

A shocked shopper filmed the altercation where the brave worker was trying to hold on to the goods. The woman can be heard shouting “You can’t take my bag “while the guard is dragged outside while he hangs on and the woman refuses to let go.

The shopping bag then split and a tin of coffee fell on the pavement. The woman insisted the shopping was not from the Asda store on London Road, in Barking, east London. She could be heard saying: “It’s not from there bruv.”

The guard continued to try and grab the shopping bag from her and more of the contents fell onto the ground as it ripped even more. The woman was filmed as she walked off around a corner and the guard returned clutching the torn bag.

The Met Police and Asda have been approached for comment.

Back in December, a brave shopper jumped in to defend a Tesco security guard after a suspected shoplifter launched an attack in Fratton, Portsmouth. The video shows a man throwing several punches towards the worker in the fruit and veg aisle at the Tesco Extra branch.

During the 56-second clip, the security guard could be seen moving back as the man charged towards him shouting. He then took off his coat to throw more punches at the guard and said, “Who’s stupid, who’s f***ing stupid.”

The man appeared to pick up an onion and then toss it at the guard in front of startled shoppers before he hurled a crate of beer at the guard. Other workers rushed over to the aisle but the man continued to carry on with his attack until a bystander wrestled him to the floor and kept him down.
