A shooting at Fashion Island Mall in Newport Beach has resulted in at least one fatality. The Newport Beach Fire Department confirmed that firefighters responded to the scene shortly after 3.30 p.m. on Tuesday and found one person dead, CBS News reported.
Authorities immediately began pursuing the alleged suspects after the incident, leading them into Los Angeles County. Police reported that two suspects jumped out of their vehicle near Los Alamitos. The car continued westbound on the 105 Freeway, reaching speeds of 110 mph. Upon exiting the freeway, two additional suspects fled the vehicle and ran through a nearby South Gate neighborhood. Authorities later apprehended one suspect who was found hiding behind trash cans near a local residence.
