‘Sex Education’ Star Connor Swindells Marries ‘Peaky Blinders’ Actress Amber Anderson in Scottish Wedding

Connor Swindells and Amber Anderson have tied the knot!

The Sex Education star, 28, and the Peaky Blinders actress, 32, married at the Boath House in the Scottish Highlands —  a place that holds special meaning to the couple and is located near where Anderson grew up.

Anderson told Vogue that she “planned pretty much all” of the wedding with a little help from a planner from Wide Sky Weddings, who “came on for the last four weeks to take everything off my hands.”

For her wedding dress, Anderson nearly settled on the first gown she tried on because she was “so convinced that it was the one.” However, she decided to go ahead with her fitting at Vivienne Westwood, and ended up finding the perfect dress.

“I just knew as soon as I tried it on,” she told Vogue. “My favorite parts of my body were accentuated, and the bits that I didn’t like didn’t really matter anymore, and I knew it would look good sitting down or standing up.”

She paired the satin white strapless gown with elbow-length tulle gloves with fine jewelry from Chanel and Roger Vivier silver shoes. And her special something blue: a blue silk bag from Patou in Paris which had their names “embroidered on it inside, with a heart,” she told Vogue.

Swindells added his own sentimental wardrobe touch with Grenson shoes with the pair’s initials in the soles.

One of the most important aspects of the nuptials was making sure that their family and friends were included. The couple shared that actor Alistair Petrie, who played Swindell’s father in Sex Education officiated the ceremony, while Anderson’s godmother gave her away at the altar.

“My dad sadly isn’t very well, so he wasn’t able to do it,” Anderson shared. “She is the godparent that he chose for me, so it felt like a nice way of having him there.” Classical musician Sean Shibe, played her father’s guitar while she walked down the aisle. The ceremony also included readings and even an aura cleansing of the groom by comedy duo Maddy and Marina Bye. The couple’s dog, Moose, even played a role as the ring bearer.

“The tone was set for a wedding that was meaningful, but not overly serious – just how we wanted it,” Anderson told Vogue

Prior to the reception, the couple did a Celtic quaich ceremony, in which they drank from a cup of whisky. They then served Scottish delicacies during the reception including haggis, neeps and tatties and had individual chocolate nemesis cakes in lieu of a wedding cake, which paid homage to their favorite dessert from restaurant River Café, according to Vogue

The pair, who met on the set of Autumn de Wilde’s film Emma, also had the director of the film do a speech at the reception, per the outlet. They then had their first dance to “The Orcadian Strip The Willow” and Anderson changed into a second Vivienne Westwood dress, a tartan corset and skirt with biker boots so she could freely move during their ceilidh, or Scottish dance party, at the end of the night.

To wrap up the wedding celebration, their family and friends gathered the next day at the pub Kimberley, known for their fish and chips, and they all had a special moment where “everyone ran and jumped off the end of the pier into the sea.”

Anderson noted, “I think that might have been my favorite moment of the weekend.”
