Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Salary Range: £46,014 – £54,135 plus 10% supplement.   

Permanent- Full Time

Location:  Wandsworth

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Housing and Regeneration department.

Richmond and Wandsworth councils’ electrical support section is responsible for the electrical safety, repairs and upgrades of all its properties and blocks within the largest inner-London borough. 

Objective of role 

We are looking for an experienced senior electrical engineer for a senior role involving contract and project management, supervision of contractors and engineers along with quality inspections.

You must have extensive knowledge and experience of current electrical regulations BS7671, including the Electrical Installation Condition reporting procedures.

You will be managing and responding to technical enquires from council departments, contractors, residents’ consultants and councillors regarding a variety of electrical systems such as: door entry systems, fire alarm, IRS, and emergency lights. 

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • You will be qualified to HNC/HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Building Services or alternatively possess the following equivalent to C&G 2367 or 2357 (Electrical Installation) and NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installations, 2391 Test and Inspection.
  • A certificate in BS7671 – The Requirements for Electrical Installations, 18th Edition as amended.
  • Excellent communication and customer care skills, the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Good ICT skills are also crucial to this role and it’s important that you can write reports and letters.
  • The ability to supervise and work well as part of a team, or on your own is essential. The post is based in our Wandsworth offices and this role also requires site visits, so a full driving licence is essential.
  • This is a demanding role, and the successful candidate will be well organised and able to work flexibly within a friendly team. Good interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.
  • You may be asked to attend to emergencies and Planned works at short notice which may include work at night or weekends.
