Scots passengers hit by travel chaos as planes unable to land at airport

A SCOTS airport was thrown into chaos after thick fog blanketed parts of Scotland.

The weather sparked chaos at the air hub with airlines forced to cancel scores of flights.

The poor visibility caused issues at Aberdeen Airport last night.

Some inbound aircraft were also forced to hold their position over the airport.

But some flights were axed altogether

Planes heading south to London‘s Heathrow and Luton Airports had to be axed.

Incoming flights from the UK capital and Humberside were also called off amid the weather issues.

Other inbound flights were forced to divert to other airports across Scotland, leaving passengers over 100 miles away from their destination.

Two Heathrow and one Gatwick flights were forced to divert to Glasgow.

One plane headed to the Granite City from Alicante was also forced to land in Edinburgh.

AGS, the company that runs Aberdeen International Airport, has been approached for comment.

The same chaos gripped another air hub north of the border in December last year.

Planes had to be cancelled and diverted away from Inverness Airport after they suffered fog chaos.

International aircraft were among those diverted over 91 miles away from the Highlands city.
