Samsung To Skip Galaxy Z Fold 6 Camera Update

Must read

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 will offer consumers a larger cover screen, a more expansive foldable screen, and the latest Galaxy AI software. Yet there is disappointing news about the camera.

The details come from noted Samsung watcher Ice Universe. Writing on X, they note the specifications of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 are not only the same as seen in the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s camera but also the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

While the Galaxy Fold series’ big draw is in the foldable screen, other elements of the smartphone need to stay relevant to the wider market. The Z Fold series has kept pace with the Galaxy S series, matching processor choices, storage, and memory in many areas. This allows the series to be measured favorably alongside conventional flagships from Samsung’s competitors.

However, holding back the camera specifications will diminish the new foldable in the eyes of many. The camera is an intrinsic part of the smartphone offering; many see it as the primary part of a smartphone. Sticking to the same specifications for a third generation of devices in the premium space is a courageous decision.

Samsung can highlight the software advances with Galaxy AI and how this will improve the images, but it can only work on the data captured. By sticking with the older camera specs, Samsung is reducing the market impact the Galaxy Z Fold 6 can offer.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to launch at Samsung’s “Galaxy Unpacked” event in early July.
