Salah: “I’ll have to cook him dinner!”

Must read

Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand joked that he’d be cooking dinner for his brother Ismail on Saturday night, after the latter put the ball on a plate for his second goal in the weekend’s 4-2 win away to Boreham Wood.

Salah, who spent last season on loan at FC Den Bosch, showed calmness and composure to open the scoring inside just four minutes, before his corner was headed in by Omar Rekik moments later.

It was on the brink of half-time when Ismail played the ball through to Salah who, with plenty of work still to do, drifted into a central position and picked out the bottom left corner.

“We’ve had a good foundation in the last couple of weeks and were training the playing style,” he said. “We managed to execute it well.

“I’m very hungry this season, especially because I haven’t been able to hit the ground running and play consistently in the last two years. There have been reasons, but hopefully I can turn it around this year. I feel very good mentally and physically, so thankfully I was able to show that pretty well.

“I will thank Ismail later and cook some dinner for him!”

Last season, Salah got 20 appearances under his belt for Den Bosch, scoring three goals and providing one assist in all competitions.

“It started off a bit hard,” he recalled. “I was still dealing with some issues, but in the second half of the season everything was fine. I played consistently, scored some goals and played back-to-back games.

“Now I want to build a strong foundation for the upcoming season, it’s a big one to come. I am open for opportunities wherever they present themselves.”
