Bukayo Saka could not contain the tears as Arsenal were once again beaten to the Premier League title by Manchester City.

City never let up as they swatted West Ham aside in a 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium to secure the Premier League title – a record fourth title in a row.

Arsenal scored a last-gasp winner against Everton at the Emirates through Kai Havertz but it meant nothing as City were already ahead.

At full-time, the Gunners stars looked shattered emotionally and physically. Even Saka, who failed a late fitness test and missed out on the squad.

The England international, who has scored 20 times and assisted 14 this season, held his face in his hands in emotional scenes at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

But Mikel Arteta gave a rousing speech to the players and fans present in north London, insisting that his side will come back again.

“All this is happening because you started believing, you started to be patient and started to understand what we tried to do. All the credit has to go to the players and the staff,” he said.

“Don’t be satisfied. We want much more than that and we’re going to get it.”

Arsenal’s day got off to a dreary start when it emerged that Phil Foden had scored a quick double, including an opener inside two minutes, to give City a 2-0 lead against West Ham.

And that misery was compounded further when Idrissa Gana Gueye opened the scoring for Everton with a deflected free-kick.

Takehiro Tomiyasu did equalise for Arsenal before half time as a rumour around the ground saw fans believe West Ham had drawn level as well.

City went on to score again through Rodri to all but-end the contest and confirm a record-breaking title, and a seventh in eight years.

It meant Arsenal could not do anything to prevent their rivals from lifting the trophy and Havertz did not even celebrate after scoring the winner in the 89th minute.

In the end, the Gunners trailed City by two points despite losing once in the Premier League in 2024.

That result, a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa last month, ended up costing them the title as City, whose relentless nine-winning streak led them to glory.
