Shein has held talks with former chancellor Sajid Javid about a job at the Chinese fast fashion giant.
The online retailer is preparing to list its shares on the stock market in London and executive chairman Donald Tang met with Javid and other prominent business figures in recent weeks, according to Sky News.
A role could involve either a board position or a job as an adviser.
Headhunters are also considering Baroness Fairhead, who was previously the BBC Trust chair and boss of the Financial Times Group.
