Ruud van Nistelrooy has reportedly been approached over a role at Manchester United.
The Red Devils legend has been out of work since stepping down as PSV Eindhoven head coach in May 2023.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Van Nistelrooy has been approached over a job in Erik ten Hag’s staff at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag will continue as Man United boss next season, despite huge speculation over his future.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, whose INEOS purchased a 25 per cent stake in the club last season, conducted an extensive end of season review.
This also included speaking to several potential replacements for Ten Hag, including Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino.
However, the Dutchman will continue and will even hold talks over a new contract.
Now, Van Nistelrooy could be part of a new look staff at Old Trafford.
Joining Manchester United in 2001, Van Nistelrooy scored 150 goals in 219 games for the Red Devils before joining Real Madrid in 2006.
In that time he also helped the club to a Premier League title, as well as an FA Cup and League Cup.
He could still make a return to English football even if he doesn’t head back to Old Trafford.
