Ukrainian intelligence has claimed that Russian troops have killed one of their own commanders.
The Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine (HUR) posted what they claimed was part of a conversation between a Russian soldier and his father.
“Today I gave a ride to a man in the morning, right after he was wounded. He’s from Krasnodar. He said our commander was killed, a good commander, he took pity on everyone. Eleven bullet wounds”, the soldier allegedly said.
Asked who shot the commander, the Russian soldier said: “The officers said they shot him, and that was it. No questions. Eleven bullet wounds. He was riddled with holes.”
The father is reported to have replied: “They don’t spare anyone there, you know? Because they believe that they were there [at the front] and that’s it. And no one will know anything, and no one will say anything.
“The lawlessness continues. That’s why I’m telling you not to fight.”
The HUR finished their Telegram post, exclaiming: “There will be a just retribution for every war crime committed against Ukraine.”
According to the Kyiv Post, Russia regularly disputes the claims made by the HUR, however an HUR staffer that spoke to the outlet rubbished the Kremlin’s denials.
The staffer referred to only as Maria, listens in on Russian calls and said HUR only publishes real exchanges.
She told the outlet: “Yes, they all are real even though they might seem insane. Sometimes I can’t believe the words I’m hearing myself, but we have what we have.”
