One of the quartet of upcoming biopics on The Beatles is set to see a Marvel Cinematic Universe star play one of its stars. According to the band member Ringo Starr, acclaimed actor and Eternals star Barry Keoghan will portray him in The Beatles’ cinematic universe.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Starr confirmed Keoghan would play him in The Beatles film, which chronicles his career with the legendary music group. According to Starr, it’s “great” that the Eternals star will represent him on the big screen, with the famous drummer stating Keoghan has been practicing for the film. “I think it’s great,” Starr said. “I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.“

Starr’s comments follow an insider report from Jeff Sneider claiming that the actors portraying the four Beatles members had been confirmed. While Keoghan plays Starr, Gigi & Nate‘s Charlie Rowe is set to appear as George Harrison, Gladiator II lead actor Paul Mescal will star as Paul McCartney and The Iron Claw‘s Harris Dickinson will portray John Lennon. Aside from Starr’s confirmation, no official casting announcements regarding The Beatles biopics have been made.
Sam Mendes Will Helm the Movies That Make Up The Beatles Cinematic Universe
This past February, it was revealed that James Bond franchise director Sam Mendes (Skyfall, Spectre) would helm The Beatles cinematic universe, which includes four separate though connected films chronicling each of the rock band’s members. McCartney, Starr and the estates of Lennon and Harrison greenlit the project, granting the full life story and music rights to producers. Sony Pictures Releasing will finance and distribute the four films. According to Mendes, whose James Bond installments are regarded among the best in the action franchise’s history, “I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies.” According to a press release, the quartet of movies will “tell the astonishing story of the greatest band in history.”

Eternals Star Barry Keoghan Pitches a Unique Sequel
Saltburn star Barry Keoghan reveals where he would like to see Marvel Studios take his character Druig next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Keoghan has starred in a flurry of critical successes on the big screen recently, appearing in Academy Award-nominated efforts such as The Batman, Saltburn and The Banshees of Inisherin, which earned him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nod. Keoghan most recently appeared in Bring Them Down, a thriller that launched at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Keoghan could also reprise his role as the Joker in The Batman Part II, though he’s staying coy about his potential involvement in the superhero sequel.
The Beatles films are expected to premiere in 2027, with release date confirmations expected closer to that time.
