Richard E. Grant welcomed wedding guests into his sprawling London home on Sunday as his daughter Olivia married her long-time love Florian Wirst. He called in the help of top party planners to transform the house into a Babylon-themed soiree.
The Hollywood star spared no expense for his only child’s big day, hiring Ellie Goulding to perform an acoustic set for attendees.
The guests dined in a twinkly marquee donned with fairy lights and white roses, as they were served a lavish meal by Michelin-star chef Skye Gyngell, who owns Sprin in Somerset House.
Olivia, who worked as a casting associate on Barbie, wore a stunning gown by British designer Suzanne Neville on her big day.
Richard took to social media to gush over the special day, saying: ‘Magical wedding last night at home, for our daughter & Florian- the sun shone’.
The couple had previously exchanged vows with Florian who works in finance, back in July. The small service was solely attended by Richard, and the groom’s mum and dad.
The celebrations come just three years after Joan Washington, Olivia’s beloved mum and Richard’s wife of 35 years, passed away from stage four lung cancer.
The Loki star has been outspoken about the struggle of life without Joan, who died at 75, just eight months after she was diagnosed.
Speaking on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show with Helena Bonham Carter, he said: ‘She said to me four days before she died, she said to my daughter and I, “I know that you’re going to be sad but try and find a pocketful of happiness in each day”.
‘It’s been an amazing mantra to navigate the abyss of grief in the last 15 months and I’m grateful for that.’
Congratulations to the happy couple!
