A BBC executive warned Gregg Wallace in 2017 that his sexist behaviour on set was “unacceptable and cannot continue”, but the presenter allegedly went on to demean women for a further six years.
According to internal emails, Kate Phillips, who now oversees unscripted programmes for the BBC, said she would ensure that she was “informed straight away” should further allegations be made against the MasterChef host.
Her intervention seven years ago came after the broadcaster Aasmah Mir, who appeared on the 12th series of Celebrity MasterChef, complained about inappropriate comments Wallace had made during filming.
