Dr Punam and her partner Gorka Marquez were the bookies favourite to leave the series tonight and finished joint bottom of the leaderboard after Saturday’s live show.

Gorka Marquez has told how proud he was to perform a Bollywood routine during his partnership with Dr Punam as he paid tribute to her following their elimination.

It’s been incredible, a fantastic six weeks. I’m very proud of what she has achieved. She’s a GP and a mum. She had never danced before and I think she improved week by week. She’s truly what the show is about. Someone who doesn’t have experience in the performance world came here and learnt to dance.

She wanted to do so well and worked so hard. I also feel very proud and honoured that we got to do a Bollywood dance to represent your culture, show your culture to the world and open doors for so many people in your culture.

I am really proud of myself. I’ve taken on something that’s so out of my comfort zone. The one thing that I’ve very much learnt is to say yes more.

There is no point in your life when you can stop learning new skills. I’ve learnt more than dancing, I’ve learnt so much from Gorka. It’s memories that I’ll take home forever. I’ve made friends for life.

This is one of those things that I’ve dreamt about for years and to have one of your dreams genuinely come true is just a surreal feeling. I’ve made friends for life and everyone’s just been so kind. Thank you, Gorka, for believing in me and giving me the gift of dancing. You’ve definitely sparked soomething and I want to learn more. I definitely don’t think this will be the end of my journey dancing.

The couple took to the floor to perform Meat Loaf’s Bat Out Of Hell beofre their cast-mates descended with hugs and kisses.

It’s time to say goodbye to Punam and Gorka.

The TV presenter said: ‘I’ve learnt to say yes more and there’s no point in life where you can’t learn new skills

Everyone has been so incredible and it’s memoires I’ll take on forever’.

Gorka said he was honoured to have danced a Bollywood dance.

Craig compliments Shayne and tells Punam she improved massively but ultimatly saves Shayne and Nancy.

Motsi said: ‘It’s about how much more, the levels and I will say Shayne and Nancy’.

Anton praised both couples and called Punam’s routine ‘clean’ while Shayne’s theatrical performance was equal to Saturday’s but he chose SHayne and Nancy

The duo are hvaing another go at their paso doble to In The Hall of The Mountain King by Edvard Grieg and will be hoping it’s enough to get them through to the next stage

Last time the judges gave them a disapointing 26 but the duo will be hoping this performance gets them through to Icons Week

Discussing Nancy and Shayne and Anton said: ‘As a piece of theatre you could give it top marks but in terms of the Pasodoble it just didnt have enough shaping’
