MARCUS Rashford has announced that he will be taking a break from social media for a “few weeks” after a challenging season.
The Manchester United forward revealed his decision tonight on a post on X, formerly Twitter.
The Premier League ace reminded critics that United “always stick together”.
He wrote: “It’s time to come off Socials for a few weeks.
“I plan to rest and reset mentally after a challenging season individually and collectively.
“Thanks to the fans that stood by me through a difficult period.
“To the ones that didn’t just remember at United, we always stick together.”
Fans were quick to comment after the star revealed he was coming off social media.
One said: “Marcus Rashford will come back stronger!”
Another wrote: “Best thing for him tbh, get his head down and work harder than ever.”
Rashford started the FA Cup final after missing a few games through injury in what was his first start since the semi-final victory over Coventry on April 21.
And the Red Devils star played a massive role for his club in a magnificent 2-1 victory over Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday.
With United leading 1-0, Rashford pinged a brilliant ball out to Alejandro Garnacho, who picked out Bruno Fernandes to tee up Kobbie Mainoo for the second.
Mainoo’s goal stunned the Premier League champions before the break with the Red Devils fully deserving to be in front.
Jeremy Doku scored a late goal to give City a lifeline but United held on to win Ten Hag a trophy in what could be his final game in charge.
As the final whistle rang, Rashford was seen breaking down in tears after a disappointing season ended with silverware.
Captain Bruno Fernandes also broke down whilst discussing Erik ten Hag‘s future at full-time.
Following the win, players and staff celebrated in the dressing room, with footage showing the post-match scenes.
In a video shared to the club’s official Instagram, Marcus Rashford can be seen smiling and jumping up and down.
He also joined team-mate Lisandro Martinez in song to the delight of supporters.
The local lad has been linked with an exit this summer but there have been plenty of calls for him to stay.
Paris Saint-Germain have previously held interest in the United academy graduate.
The forward has been omitted from Gareth Southgate‘s provisional 33-man Euro 2024 squad.
It will give him time to rest and reset ahead of Manchester United’s next campaign.
