An unlisted video from Sony PlayStation has confirmed that the reveal of the PS5 Pro console is set to take place in a few hours.
Earlier today Sony published the video which was initially listed under the title ‘PS5 Pro’ with plenty making screen captures of the listing before the title of the video was changed to ‘PlayStation 5 Technical Presentation’.
The video shows the PS5 logo, the tagline ‘The Journey Continues’, and then a fact sheet highlighting a technical presentation from the PS5’s lead design architect Mark Cerny.
Such a presentation is how the specs for the PS5 pro were revealed a few years ago. The nine-minute presentation will be broadcast on YouTube. Times for the reveal are as follows:
Tuesday, September 10th
8am: U.S. West Coast
11am: U.S. East Coast
4pm: U.K.
1am (Sept 11th): Australian East Coast
Leaked specs and sketches have already indicated the model could boast a design similar to the recent PS5 Slim but with a much chunkier black line segment consisting of three lines together as opposed to the one of the Slim model.
Though not confirmed as yet, it’s expected the interchangeable plates for the PS5 slim model will work with the Pro model.
In terms of additions, PSU reports that, as well as a slightly higher-clocked CPU, it’s expected the Pro will include a hardware block for custom DLSS-esque upscaling technology which is being dubbed PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling).
There’s also a notably more powerful GPU with at least 45% faster rendering than a standard PS5, and a second dedicated hardware block – this one for advanced ray tracing that could potentially take that burden off the GPU whilst also boasting 2-4x better ray tracing capabilities.
Will all these rumors pan out? We’ll find out when the preentation arrives. The console itself is expected to hit stores in November.
