It’s almost time for Sony to unveil the next wave of free PS4 and PS5 games joining the PlayStation Plus Essentials line-up in July 2024. The highlight of the month for PS Plus subscribers like myself, the next batch of PS Plus freebies will be officially announced at 4.30pm BST UK time on the afternoon of June 26. Typically consisting of three PS4 and PS5 games, the new titles will be available to download less than a week later on the morning of July 2. This means you have another week to redeem the current line-up of PS Plus Essentials, which include SpongeBob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake, AEW Fight Forever and Streets of Rage 4. Even though Streets of Rage 4 is an excellent game, subscribers will be hoping for a higher-profile selection of games, so fingers crossed Sony steps it up a gear in July.
If the latest predictions are anything to go by, July 2024 could be a better month in terms of new releases.
One of the games with the most picks on the Reddit predictions thread is Call of Duty Vanguard, which feels like a solid choice for PS Plus.
Sony has secured Call of Duty games in previous summer months, which is why Vanguard is proving popular with fans.
Vanguard takes players back to WW2, featuring a campaign set in Europe, Russia and North Africa. It also comes with 20 multiplayer maps, and an extensive Zombies mode developed by Treyarch.
“Rise on every front: Dogfight over the Pacific, airdrop over France, defend Stalingrad with a sniper’s precision and blast through advancing forces in North Africa,” reads the official description.
“The Call of Duty franchise returns with Call of Duty: Vanguard, developed by Sledgehammer Games, where players will be immersed in visceral WWII combat on an unprecedented global scale.”
Other games with multiple predictions include Like a Dragon Ishin! which is a fantastic single-player game set in Japan’s Edo period.
Regular picks such as Resident Evil Village, Forspoken, Dead Island 2 and Sonic Frontiers also appear multiple times.
Likewise, there are also picks for the likes of Hades, Cult of the Lamb and even Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Rocksteady’s live service superhero game definitely needs a shot in the arm, so a PS Plus release would actually make a lot of sense.
“Join the newly “recruited” members of Amanda Waller’s infamous Task Force X (aka the Suicide Squad), Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark, as they set out on an impossible mission to Kill the Justice League.
“Drop into an expansive and dynamic open-world Metropolis ravaged by Brainiac’s invasion and terrorized by the heroes who once protected it.”
Needless to say, Daily Express will be back with any leaks, as well as the official announcement, so keep checking back for the latest information.
