Using a gameplay data sample from over 3.1 million active PSN accounts (courtesy of our partnership with GameInsights), we track the debut player count of every PS5 and PS4 game that comes to PS Plus Extra. That includes Police Simulator Patrol Officers, which joined the subscription scheme as part of the PS Plus Extra and Premium June 2024 lineup.
Initially released for PS5 and PS4 in November 2022, Police Simulator Patrol Officers is pretty much what it sounds like — a game that lets you play as a cop on a patrol beat. From busting drug dealers to pulling over drunk drivers, Police Simulator keeps you busy with a host of interactions you can have with victims and criminals.
In its debut week on Sony’s subscription scheme, Police Simulator Patrol Officers topped Monster Hunter Rise’s PS Plus player count by 61.98%. This feat makes Police Simulator the biggest PS Plus Extra game for June 2024.
Plus, Police Simulator‘s debut was so popular that it even topped the PS Plus player count of May 2024’s Red Dead Redemption 2 by 29.78%. That makes it the second-biggest PS Plus Extra game of 2024, falling just short of PS Plus Extra’s Dave the Diver and its monstrous player count by 26.48%.

I don’t know about you, but I find it pretty fascinating that more PS Plus subscribers were drawn to check out Police Simulator than a more established game like Monster Hunter Rise.
I suppose the ‘simulator’ genre of games has given us some really great PS5 and PS4 games over the years. We’ve had excellent titles like Powerwash Simulator, Farming Simulator, Bee Simulator — and, of course, the unstoppable Goat Simulator.
That said, these simulator games also tend to fluctuate wildly in quality and it can be hard to tell the good ones from the bad ones. In which case, it helps that PS Plus Extra can help PS5 and PS4 players single out the good ones — by making the list, the game quietly gets a sign of approval from Sony.
To the game’s credit, Police Simulator is really a good time. It does a good job of translating police work to a game and it comes with plenty of varied crimes to stop. So, while it might have surprised us by getting this much attention, it could genuinely be one of the best PS Plus games in the PS Plus Extra catalog.
