PS Plus Extra, Premium August 2024 line-up, release time and games leaving

Must read

Sony is about to release the PS Plus Extra and Premium games for August 2024. Fresh off the back of last week’s reveal, the August PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium titles will join the subscription service on August 20. While there’s no official release time, the PS4, PS5, PSVR 2 and retro games should be available by around 11am BST UK time. The August line-up is headlined by The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, which despite originally launching all the way back in 2015, is well worth playing if you haven’t already. In fact, the PS5 version is arguably worth playing even if you did complete it when it first launched.

The PlayStation 5 port of The Witcher 3 contains a boatload of enhancements, including upgraded visuals, speedier load times and even a selection of community mods.

That’s on top of PlayStation-specific features such as 3D Audio support, Adaptive Triggers, and advanced haptics.

In addition to The Witcher 3, PS Plus Extra subscribers will be able to download and play the likes of Wild Hearts, Cult of the Lamb, Ride 5, Watch Dogs 2, Sword Art Online: Last Recollection + Alicization Lycoris + Fatal Bullet + Hollow Realization and Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker.

The Premium line-up is headlined by a trio of classic shooters, including TimeSplitters, TimeSplitters 2 and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect.

That’s on top of PSVR 2 game Vacation Simulator, as well as PS3 game Sword Art Online: Lost Song.

It’s perhaps not the best month for new PS Plus Extra and Premium games, but there are still plenty of quality releases to keep fans entertained until September.

Unfortunately, however, it’s not all good news, because some decent games are leaving the service on the morning of August 20.

This includes NBA 2K24, which makes sense given the annual sequel will be released in the coming months.

That’s on top of Need For Speed Unbound, SpellForce III, Trials of Mana, Moving Out 2, Midnight Fight, Destroy All Humans and Destroy All Humans 2.

Critically acclaimed RPG Sea of Stars is also leaving PS Plus, as well as Yakuza spinoff Lost Judgement, which is my personal favourite of the bunch.
