Crime Boss Rockay City patch on PS5 break platinum trophy
Naturally, we like keeping an eye on unobtainable PS5 platinum trophies. Well, one has popped up this week that caught my attention: Crime Boss Rockay City. It’s double trouble for the heisty co-op game, as a new PS5 patch for Crime Boss threatens to spoil its strong start on PS Plus Extra.
The two major affected trophies are Red Star and Geek Out, both of which involve completing the main missions with specific characters Ranger and Wiz. They are both tricky simply by virtue of your progress not tracking over playthroughs and a lack of checkpointing. However, it gets even harder when completing the task at hand doesn’t even trigger the trophies!
Now, interestingly, this will specifically affect players on PS Plus Extra because you’ll have to download the game digitally. That means you’ll end up installing the game with the broken trophy-offending patch whether you want to or not. So, for all PS Plus Extra players, Crime Boss Rockay City’s platinum trophy is unobtainable.
Just to be clear, if you have a disk version of the game, then the platinum trophy is still achievable. You’ll just have to reinstall the game without the latest PS5 patch installed if you want to complete it. There is hope for digital owners, however. The developer has stated that the issue should be patched on June 18, 2024, in Update 9.0. We’ll keep you updated if that happens.
For now, I’ve just got to warn you to be aware, PS Plus Extra players! It’s a pretty tricky platinum trophy anyway with very little information available. Even if it was achievable, it’s a massive grind to unlock all the characters in what has been a critically panned game. I suspect that you’ll want to stay well-clear until those trophies are confirmed to work.
So, that’s our wrap-up done and dusted. If you want something a little bit more sane, there are plenty of easy platinum trophies in great games, too! What do you think of this? Let me know in the comments down below, TrueTrophies crew!
